Susan Cargill: Carpe Diem

"The visual effect of light on landscapes fascinates me. In this body of work I focused on how light changes colours and forms giving depth and definition. I also studied movement within landscapes, particularly the influence of wind and water and how they constantly alter different surfaces and natural elements. To capture the vitality of nature, I modified forms, lines and colours to give a dynamic feeling to each composition. These abstracted works are my way of paying tribute to the magnificent and varied geography of Nova Scotia and of marking Canada’s 150th anniversary."  -Susan Cargill
